"Do the 'Do"- Sock Bun

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is one of my favorite hairdos, and it has a craft to do for it too!
It is a sock bun. It will work for long or short hair.

You just need some old socks with higher ankles. If you have light hair, you'll want to use light colored socks, and the opposite for dark hair.
Here is the sock bun craft step by step:

1. Find some socks, I used 3, but it depends on how big or small you want it. I have a lot of hair, lol.

2. Cut off the feet.

3. Put the sock tubes inside eachother, if you have more than one.

4. Roll the sock tubes inside out to make a donut.

5. You can stitch these together if you want. I actually never have, I just use them as is.

Now, here is a step by step on how to put one in your hair....

1. Make a ponytail (use a smaller rubberband so it will hide well), and put the sock bun around it.

2. Spread your hair around the bun, this will take practice to get it from showing gaps.

3. Put a ponytail around that to keep it in place, this will take practice too.

4. I usually put a larger scrunchie around that to cover up the ponytail, and make it look more like a bun.

5. You can either braid the rest, and wrap it around the bun, or leave it loose. If you have short hair, this will look really cute, with your hair in little fan-like spikes around the bun.

Shari, that's a really cute idea. Hannah's hair is so thick that it's hard for me to try anything with it except letting it lay loose. Even ponytail holders aren't big enough. Seriously. Anyway, I'll have to give this a try. Thanks for the step by step instructions.

oh, that would be awesome if this worked for hannah. once you get the hang of it, it's actually a fast, easy hairstyle.
