snowbaby

Hi all. Today was a momentous day in the life of the Dippong family. Baby Gabriel had his first experience in the snow. We bundled him up with long johns, cords, snow suit, etc., and then plopped him down in the snow. I even made him a little snow couch to sit back on. He mostly sat and watched us, but toward the end, he started crawling around. He can walk, but I think he figured it would be safer. He laughed at Jeff goofing off, and he played with (tore down) the mini snowman I made. I can't believe how wonderful it is to be part of a family, with a husband and a baby. God gave me a life that I never planned on, but which is better than anything I could have done for myself. I am also blessed with a husband that is involved in every aspect of raising our little munchkin. I am thankful for that. I talk to friends whose husbands don't change diapers, bathe, feed, or anything. The raising of the children is the mom's job alone? I don't believe that. I feel that if a man wants a really close, fullfilling relationship with their children, they have to be willing to be involved in the mundane, every day things. It's in those little actions that show love, and give special one on one time. It tells the children, I love you enough to take care of you, and be a real part of your life. I can see the closeness between my baby and my husband, and know that it is partly due to the fact that he has taken care of him with changings, bathings, feedings, as well as playtime since Gabriel was born. He has truly been Daddy to Gabriel, and Wonderful to me.
