my weekend

I invited my friend, Angi, and her family to join us for our Ladies' Dinner, and Mens' Great Steakout at our church friday night. I'm so glad they got to go, and they had a good time too, lol. I was praying that angi would get tops gift cards that they were giving away, but none of us won.

my sister and i got volunteered to do the game. we had to mix the ingredients of the cake mix, with one hand each. all was well, until i spent to long trying to cut the bag open with right handed scissors WITH MY LEFT HAND!! LOL!


my sister usually spends saturdays with me. i love having her over. since jeff works, having her over makes me feel like i'm having a real saturday, and not just another weekday.
well, yesterday, at about 10am, my brother called and said he and my dad and stepmom were going to be stopping by that morning. he wanted to get some stuff from the garage.

so, my dad, stepmom, and sister were all over, and i said, "well, when bobby gets here, all we'll need is mommy over here to have the whole family...lol." so i called her. and she actually said she had hoped to stop by! ROTFL. bob got here, and mommy got here, and i pulled hot dogs from the freezer, and we had a great impromptu lunch. (well, a little overcooked, because i forgot all about them showing bobby the back yard. oops. thank you mommy for saving them from a certain death!)

I love that we all get along so well now. we had a great time, just chatting. i had a bit of a headache, and chrissy wasn't feeling too well, so i kind of had everyone leave at 3pm, so chrissy, gabey and i could rest, but it was such a nice time. the only thing that would have made it better, would be if DH would have been there.

i've thanked the Lord about this over and over... all of my immediate family are saved! what a huge blessing! my mom, stepdad, dad, stepmom, sister, brother, husband! we all can have a get together, and talk about spiritual things. we have prayer before meals, and it just has that nice feeling (like you have when you're with others who have the Spirit).

got new shoes from Kmart

i've needed shoes for so long, and now it's not just cosmetic. my feet are killing me, and i have not one good pair of shoes. i don't think any of my shoes were less than a year or two old. well, since i've moved here, and started walking barefoot on these wood floors, i've gotten real pain in my right foot. a good friend helped me see that it's probably Plantar fasciitis. with my flat feet, the extra stress on my feet, and stuff, i can totally understand why i'd be having problems. lol. sooooo, i've been working up to getting some new shoes. i went to a place called gabriel brothers last night, and hated it there. and the prices weren't that good, lol. i was talking to my one friend this morning, and she mentioned this brand shoe at Kmart. i had said i was thinking about trying there.they're called Cobbie Cuddlers. a line of shoes that are really made to be comfortable... but they're actually really cute too! the minute i tried them on, i knew i wanted them. i got a pair of simple sneakers, and a pair of nice black church shoes. plus, i got some cobbie cuddler gel inserts too. i feel like i'm walking on pillows. it's wonderful. i decided to wear them around the house too, so my feet can get some rest from the wood floor. i can't wait for carpeting. lol.here are some pictures of them, lol. the sneakers are so fun, they have velcro!

this was just what i needed this morning. every day i spend doing laundry is a day filled with bitterness, lol. (and don't get me started on dishes) i tend to blame it all on my husband too. it's too easy to blame our husbands for everything in our heart.

Oh, pray for the Mach family, our good friends, and missionaries to Africa! Such scary things to go through. Here is their letter to the Loop (our church internet prayer grapevine.)

Dear Friends and Family,
I just sent out our July/August prayerletter which gives a general idea of what has happened here. I am sending this to you to give you a more detailed description.We started smelling a particular odor here in Bingerville around August 31. This continued somewhat and the odor was not overpowering. Around Sept. 2 we began to learn that perhaps some illegal dumping had taken place. I began to research it and did not find out much.Unfortunately what has unfolded threatens to become a nightmare. A Russian factory put 400,000 liters of Hydrogen sulfide and mercury on a boat bound for disposal in Africa. It has been touring Africa for six months being refused by many African nations. It is believed that the minister of transportation here secretly accepted the waste and spilled it in a number of places around Abidjan. You realize that the government the UN has imposed on us here is a coalition government. The minister of transportation is an opposition minister.There are a mounting number of cases at the hospitals including our clinic of nose bleeding, respiratory distress, coughing, cramping, and vomiting. There have been numerous deaths.There has been minimal reporting on the incident, so we remain dreadfully uninformed.In our family, Bobby experienced vomiting and cramping around the beginning of the problem. We found it peculiar at the time. We now feel as though it was no doubt exposure. He has been fine for a week now. Morganne began exhibiting some symptoms. I got her to our pediatrician who did blood tests to determine that she has an acute bacterial infection in her digestive tract. She is currently under antibiotic treatment.I have evacuated the family for the moment to Anyama which is for the moment one of the best places to go without proceeding into the interior of the country.My problem is that I just cannot leave my people to sit here and breath this stuff. I am desperately trying to convince our people to leave. Those who are too poor or most vulnerable, I am evacuating to Anyama. The church that I helped start there is preparing for the arrival of our people. We just simply do not know where this is going, and the odor today is stronger. I will soon be closing our clinic temporarily as there is no known treatment for this exposure. As well, we will most likely be suspending church services until a later date. I just simply cannot believe this.I could use some prayer.

Kirk Cameron is bringing witnessing back to the way it should be presented.

How do we share the gospel? How do we show people that Christ has what they need? Everyone says..."i'm a good person, I'll go to heaven."

Instead of helping people see their sin, by showing them the "law", and where they've fallen short, so many preachers and evangelists are trying to "sell" Jesus to them. They're just making claims that Christ will make people's life better, that they'll be happier in Jesus. But the Bible assures us that even when we've trusted in Christ, we'll have trials, we'll be made fun of.

The reason that "Now is the time of salvation" is because we're all going to die. We all fall short of the law. Just look at the 10 commandments. God gave us the 10 commandments to show us that we all fall short of the rightousness that is required in order to go to heaven. We've all lied at one time. We've all coveted other's posessions at one time. We've all put other things as more important to us than God. The list goes on.

So, before a righteous and holy God, we all deserve hell. He is a just Judge. We would not respect a judge that didn't follow the law, or let people get away with doing wrong. "all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God." "the wages of sin is death (separation from God in Hell.)"

Christ is our answer. "in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He gave his blood as the payment to God for the sins we've done. He offers us life in heaven, if we'll repent (admit, and turn from) of our sins, and take His gift of free salvation once and for all. "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just for forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." "for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation."

We will, in fact have peace and joy, but that will be because we'll know that all the trials here on earth will be worth it, because we're "saved from the wrath to come." We know that heaven's our home, no matter how hard this life is.

I haven't checked out the entire site, so I won't say I allign with everything they believe, but he talks about how to know you're going to heaven, and that's the greatest thing you can know.

thinking about walmart still.

My dream is to go to a store that doesn't offer alchohol, cigarrettes, porn, or anything like that. a store like that doesn't exist. i'm spending my money at these stores, and my money is going to support these vices and sins.

Walmart is now joined with a group that pushes LGBT views, and if i spend my money at walmart, my money will go to support this group. I just hate that it's like that. I mean, it's the individual that's important, some people take it so far, and make it seem like they hate the people who are doing this sin. It shouldn't be like that. I just don't want to be forced into telling people that what they're doing is just fine. It's not, and I will never condone it. Why do you have to say, "love me, love my sin!" it shouldn't be like that either. I love you, but I'll never love your sin. God loves you, but He'll never accept the sin, and He is the judge.

I'm wondering about Walmart's position too. I mean, what would this group have done, if Walmart said no? I really think they would have automatically labelled Walmart as discriminatory, and would have had a fight ready. I keep saying it, this is not a nationality we're talking about. I'm reminded of the kids on the playground that run and cry to the teacher because someone won't play with them. What would this group say if i told them that by not letting me follow them around and preach to them, they were being discriminatory? Oh, I have free speech. lol. People just push things so far.

I don't think we should treat people like lepers. An American has a right to work. People who drink work, lol. People who swear like sailors work. People who choose the sin of LGBT should be able to work too, and shop where they want, I totally understand that. But they're taking it too far, and trying to deceive everyone into thinking that it's something you're born with. It's not, it's a sin that you choose.

For example...With a man and a woman, I believe that sex before marriage is a sin. It's a huge powerful temptation, and it's natural to have urges like that, BUT if you give in to those temptations, you commit sin. Of course, it's tempting, and you can tell yourself all you want that it feels natural and right. It's still not. The same goes for chosing to have a mate of the same sex. You may think it feels great, and right. It doesn't change the fact. It's a sin.

We choose to sin. We are born wanting sin. That's why Christ came and gave His life. He shed his blood to wash our sins away, when we come to him for forgiveness. We need to repent. We need to admit that we sin. That's the hardest thing for people now, I think. No one wants to admit that they do things wrong.

Labor Day

How was your labor day? Ours was very nice. Only one mishap. Gabey got a huge splinter in his thumb while we were working out back. We had to pin him down, and practically do surgery to get it out, and he was hysterical. I cried after it was out, I was so upset.

I spent some time working on making crayons for my sunday school kids. I told them they needed to be in church next Sunday, because I am giving each one a homemade crayon for 9/11. We're going to put little labels on them. I found this crayon maker at the thrift store for less than 5.00. It was brand new, and it works just fine!

Later in the day, we went to Jeff's family's for a nice meal, and some great visiting. We spent some time in the back yard. The guys played basketball, and Gabey had a blast playing with the Tonka trucks that Grandma Linda keeps in her garage.

I'll take pictures of the work we did in the backyard. I'm so proud. lol.

Homosexuality is NOT a nationality!

I feel so betrayed. I have supported Walmart almost exclusively. I have stood up for Walmart. They were one of the few establishments where I could go as a Christian, and feel like I was in a place that cared about Christian family values. They are going to lose out so badly with this step. They're acting like the Titanic, and thumbing their nose at God, saying they're too big to fall. Well, baby, like the article suggests...Get ready for a ROLLBACK!
I've said this before, I believe that homosexuality is a sin, like any other sin, but it is a sin. Everyone on this earth is a sinner, and needs Christ, and repentence. I am a sinner, and I called on Christ to forgive me of my sins. I am not looking down on anyone, I am sinful, and am so thankful for Christ's blood.
But why does everyone have to shove their sin in our face, and flaunt it, and expect everyone to just lie down and accept it? Homosexuality is not a nationality. It's a sin. Media, commerce, Everyone has just gone too far with this diversity thing.

I'm sick of this world. "This world is not my home! I'm just a passing though!" "LORD, PLEASE COME QUICKLY."


Wal-Mart's 'Gay' Partnership Risks Conservative 'Rollback'By Randy HallCNSNews.com Staff Writer/EditorAugust 29, 2006(CNSNews.com) - After months of criticism from union-backed groups over its employee pay and health care practices, Wal-Mart now faces a potential "rollback" of support from conservatives because of the retail giant's partnership with a homosexual business coalition."I don't think this is something that will sell on Main Street America, where most Wal-Mart stores are located," said Tony Perkins, president of the conservative Family Research Council (FRC). "I don't think cheap prices on goods from China will be enough to stop a rollback in their customer base if they choose to go down this aisle."Joining the FRC in criticizing Wal-Mart's new alliance with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) is Americans for Truth, which describes itself as "the only national organization devoted exclusively to exposing and countering the homosexual activist agenda.""Wal-Mart has always been a favorite of God-fearing Middle American customers who hold traditional family values," said Peter LaBarbera, the group's founder and president. Friday was my nephew's first football game. He's in the marching band. We had a great time. Here is my nephew, and his marching band. They did very well. I was really glad to visit with him and his mom at the game. I think we're going again this friday too. I wanted to be on the other side, lol. i'm a graduate of the rival team, and played on their marching band. HAHAHA. Gabey was so good, and had a great time. The video is hillarious. Gabey was wacko.

gabey's not responding, so i'm backing off, and showing him videos, and just offering the potty to him. i was getting us both frustrated trying to force it.

it's been a great weekend. friday was a wonderful picnic with the family, and friday night was a football game. my nephew is playing in the marching band. i'm glad we got to go.

we were on our way to church tonight, and we totally ran out of gas. we coasted to a stop halfway up the off ramp. wah. so we called my sister, jeff started walking to the gas station. chrissy got to pick him up and bring him back, but she dropped him off at the corner so he could come down the ramp with the gas. she left, and....when we tried to start the car, the battery was dead! i had turned the car off thinking that exact thing. oooh, i don't want to run the battery down, and it turns out i did, having the radio on and vent. waaaahhhh. and chrissy already was at church, and didn't get any messages til afterwards. while jeff tried getting in touch with the roadside assistance, i decided to walk with gabey to the cracker barrel, so he wouldn't be so bored. he was so good the whole evening. we spent 1 1/2 hours at the cracker barrel! (after being in the van for about 1/2 hour too) jeff waited on hold for the longest time to get the right number to the roadside assistance, and the lady told him the wrong thing, after being on hold forrrrever. he decided to walk up and hang out at CB while he waited too, so he had to call back... just to get the right number! when he finally got through, they said 45 minutes. yikes, we've already been here for so long. so i told him to call my dad, i was sure he'd be out of church by now too. my dad came, and charged the batteries. we took him and patty to dinner at, you guessed it, Cracker Barrel. lol. gabey was so good the whole time. it's time like these, i'm glad not to have a hellion, lol.

i went out and bought cloth training pants and covers today for gabey. i think he's holding out so he can pee in the pullup. so i wanted to make it less comfortable for him, lol, so he would want to pee on the potty.

just now, i was changing his diadee, and i think he meant to ask "do i feel better?" but he said "do i taste better?" !!! lol.

what a nice walk we had. it was too nice of a day to not do something memorable. it was a very loooong walk, but gabey was great the whole time, and we really enjoyed it. i got some neat pictures... about 90 of them, lol. I LOVE MY DIGITAL CAMERA!! have i said that before? probably. lol. it was a christmas gift from my sweetie. and i think it's the best gift ever. well, enough of that. lol. here are some photos.

gabey cracked me up this afternoon. he must be hearing me talk about potty training him. well he had one of his trains with him, and i just realized today, that he's thinking potty "train", as in the locomotive kind. lol. he asked if he could bring his train to the potty. it was his potty train!!

Dragonfly

I always see dragonflies flitting past, whizzing by like mini helicopters. I've never seen one stop for long, and I've never gotten a good closeup before. Yesterday, I got to actually get some pictures of one. She was hanging on my plant basket, and she just stayed there. We had a few theories of why she didn't fly away. I'm going to check today to see if she's still there.

the shed was the second thing i wanted down, after the tree. so this weekend, jeff and i just tackled it. it wasn't too hard, the wood kind of just crumbled. we just had to push it over after taking off the side panels. lol. now, we just have to take up the floor. it's so nice to look out the window and NOT see the shed. lol.

tonight's sermon

for a few years now, we've been having thursday night revivals in august.

tonight, we heard from a pastor at Mansfield Baptist, and his sermon was so wonderful....

it was based on the verse talking about -be sober, be vigillant, for your adversary the devil walketh about seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter.

he gave some interesting info about the actual lion and how he hunts, and it's a lot like how the devil works.

the lion doesn't chase after the fastest, the ones in best health... he looks for the young, the weak, the sickly, he attacks and shows no mercy...

Satan is walking around looking at us and working to find our weaknesses.
... when we're prideful (from an earlier verse about being humble), when we let our guard down (arent' vigilant) or don't take the things of God seriously (aren't sober) Satan is waiting to attack us.

the first people in the illustrations were destroyed by satan. he attacked and showed no mercy. (david didn't die, but sometimes wished he had with all the trouble afterward)

we need to be on guard, humble, and take the things of God seriously... and the Lord will stop Satan's mouth, like he did the lions' mouths in Daniel's den.

i know i needed this message. my besetting sin, is that i'm too prideful, and constantly have to repent of it. i'm going to order this sermon so i can listen to it again.

the big day has arrived... the jump from baby to boy.
We just got the pullups and potty seat today.
I had gotten a toddler potty chair a while ago, and he's just too big for it, so i got the seat that fits on the regular toilet.
so far, it's been a wash, lol. i put him on the potty, and he waits til he's off, and then goes in his pullup. He got an M&M, when he first sat on the potty, and hasn't gotten one since. He knows he has to pee on the potty before he gets another one.
I'm thankful he does sit. We bring a book and i read it to him, and then he tells it back to me. I'm not sure how long i should make him sit. It's so exciting. This is the biggest thing we've had to do. He moved to a sippy cup so easily. He still refuses to do anything but play with his spoon, but we're working on it. He gave his binky to a baby at the mall when he was 1 1/2. So, this is it. The last right of passage to being a big boy. I'm going to miss his diapers. my little diadee boy was so cute. I didn't really mind changing him. He also was never too picky, like some babies on when he got changed.

here is a picture of gabey napping at auntie chrissy's house. she's been letting us camp out at her apartment almost the whole summer. she has air conditioning, and we don't. lol. it's been so hot and humid out (almost all of july was at a heat advisory warning), we'd be miserable if we couldn't have stayed there. we're hoping to get some window air conditioning units this weekend. then at least august and september will be comfortable at home.

side note- gabey said something funny this morning.... we were watching Baby Einstein, and I said " the monkey is playing cymbols" and he said "the monkey is playing some bowls."

Family Picnic

This summer has been so great for family picnics. My dad is retired, and my stepmommy, and mom aren't working. My dad sets up picnics all the time at a park by my sister's work, and she stops by with our adopted sister, Michelle, on their lunch break. It's always such a nice little break in the day. Yesterday, was a most memorable picnic. I know my dad was disappointed because he thought the food wasn't working out as well as usual, but for me it was just a fabulous time! Patty Nanna took me and Gabey on his first creek walk. I brought a change of clothes and his water shoes so he could get wet. We saw crayfish, fish, dragonflies, and ducks. I held onto the back of his t-shirt, and we just waded down the creek. I love being in the creek, with the trees reaching up on either side. It makes me feel as if I were in a different world. Later, when we went back in the water, Gabey and I ended up sitting all the way down, and playing with rocks, and bark, and just giggling away. I will always remember the happiness of those few moments. My mom took a few pictures of me and Gabey, and watched us from the bank. Patty Nanna lured some ducks over, and we got to feed them! They were swimming inches from us, it was so exciting. Gabey was having a fit! I have a ton of pictures, I hope you like them.

it's been so long, lol. i thought i'd pop on and see how you were doing, lol. like my dad would say...hahwahya hahwahya hahwahya.

it was so stinking hot this week, that we literally stayed the entire week with my sister in her apartment! lol. she was so wonderful to let us stay. it was like a big week long sleepover. we made dinner together every night, and watched movies, and played with the baby.

i was so extremely grateful to be able to hang out in an air conditioned place. i would have gotten heat stroke if we had stayed home. whew.
