Christmas at the Mall

SmileyCentral.com
We got to spend a little time at the mall last night, and Gabey played in the playland, and got to watch the carousel. There's a carousel IN the mall! It's gorgeous! We didn't get to spend too much time there, but we did get to see one of the Christmas trees there and get a picture in front of it.

It's Snowing!

SmileyCentral.com It's snowing here. It's coming down pretty hard!
I'm very thankful to be staying in.
SmileyCentral.comMy caravan battery died last night, and we had to move the car seat to the Escort so we could all go to church. My dad might come over today to charge the battery. I'm glad to have an excuse to stay home. I'll have Gabey play in the snow a little later. :):)

These are ornaments that my grandma made a long time ago. I remember seeing these every year on the tree. When we were grown up, my mom gave them to my sister and me.

Here they are on my China cabinet. I put all my breakable ornaments here this year.

Christmas Tree Pictures

Here's our tree, finished.
I ended up getting an angel for the tree, so you'll see a star in the first pictures and then I added pics of my angel.

Legend of the Poinsettia

I'm bombarding you with blog posts! ROTFL.

I found this on one of my blogger friend's sites. It's a sweet story. Kind of like the story of the Littlest Angel, I've always loved that story.

The Legend of the Poinsettia
"A charming story is told of Pepita, a poor Mexican girl who had no gift to present the Christ Child at Christmas Eve Services. As Pepita walked slowly to the chapel with her cousin Pedro, her heart was filled with sadness rather than joy."I am sure, Pepita, that even the most humble gift, if given in love, will be acceptable in His eyes," said Pedro consolingly.
Not knowing what else to do, Pepita knelt by the roadside and gathered a handful of common weeds, fashioning them into a small bouquet. Looking at the scraggly bunch of weeds, she felt more saddened and embarrassed than ever by the humbleness of her offering. She fought back a tear as she entered the small village chapel.
As she approached the altar, she remembered Pedro's kind words: "Even the most humble gift, if given in love, will be acceptable in His eyes." She felt her spirit lift as she knelt to lay the bouquet at the foot of the nativity scene.Suddenly, the bouquet of weeds burst into blooms of brilliant red, and all who saw them were certain that they had witnessed a Christmas miracle right before their eyes.
From that day on, the bright red flowers were known as the Flores de Noche Buena, or Flowers of the Holy Night, for they bloomed each year during the Christmas season. Today, the common name for the plant is Poinsettia!"

Christmas Cookie Ornaments

LOL!!

SmileyCentral.com
We did it! We made the cookie ornaments last night! We're going to paint them today, I forgot we don't have any paint brushes in the house. It's so funny... an artist with no paint brushes in the house, that's how long it's been since I've painted, LOL!

Here they are, and like my friend at Thimble Thoughts said, they're nice and sturdy! I'm thinking of buying a spray topcoat also, and wonder how long these will last and how long to store them, and how. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

Gabey woke up this morning, and loved them! He's walking around the house, carrying them in both hands.

Tub Paints!

Wow, this was EASY!! I got it from Family Fun (I love that website!)

Tub Paints
1/2 cup White or Clear hand soap
1 teaspoon of corn starch
food coloring

Mix cornstarch and soap in a bowl, and then put in separate containers for each color you want.

It was so simple, and it really worked. It was like fingerpainting on the wall. I didn't make the colors bright, because I didn't know how it would go, I only put in one drop of food coloring. I'll probably put in some more next time. Also, I may get some paintbrushes to use for next time too!

If you have any paint left over (we didn't, LOL,) they said to refrigerate it for up to 3 days.

(i forgot to take my flash off "still life" so my pictures didn't turn out well.)

We had so much fun! Gabey played for about 1/2 hour with the paints. I made a ton of drawings with him, and then we just washed it off.
It washed clean off the tub wall, and even made the water a little bubbly, bonus! LOL.

Crafty Christmas

Wow, I'm having so much fun with Christmas ornaments this year! We put up the tree, and it's not the little 4 foot tree from last year. We truly don't have enough to put on it! Not enough lights, not enough garland, and absolutely not enough ornaments, lol.

I decided that in addition to buying some of the stuff, I'd make sure we made some ornaments. I've been having fun this week. So far, we've made some ornaments from Foamie puzzle shapes, spelling out Christmas words, and also some beaded ornaments with beads and pipe cleaner. I'm also planning on baking those cool cookie cutout ornaments that Thimble Thoughts, Kristi talked about on her blog. I can't wait. I have all the ingredients and I think we may be doing it tonight!
Here are some pictures of our crafts so far. :):)

Here are a few of the foamie ornaments we did. Mommy and I made even more today.

A few of my bead ornaments. I also am making bells and wreaths out of pony beads, they're a lot lighter, and smaller. These ones with the big flower beads are huge, and heavy, lol.
